PH 5 table lamp designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, 1960s
A true Danish icon, the PH 5 table lamp designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958. This rare lighting was manufactured in the 1960s by the renowned company Louis Poulsen.
The lamp is based on the principle of a reflective multiple shade system, which creates a harmonious and 100% glare-free lighting. The white painted metal shades are supported by the three-part frame and the base of patinated brass. The red and blue accents provide a warm appearance and playful character.
The lamp is in very nice vintage condition with a nice patina on the brass. There is a small dent on the back which is personally not really disturbing (see photo). Furthermore, the sticker of the manufacturer is still present inside as a sign of authenticity.
Poul Henningsen was a Danish writer, critic, architect and designer. He is often called the first true lighting architect because he devoted a large part of his life to investigating the importance of light for well-being. He focused on creating lamps that produced glare-free lighting. His best-known lamp models are the PH Artichoke, the PH 5 and the PH Contrast lamp.
