Undesignable: a vintage alternative in the digital age

Driven by a passion for twentieth-century design, Richard Serrault has devoted more than twenty years to promoting iconic pieces of vintage furniture and to sharing a genuine curiosity: the curiosity for creators, their intentions and their stories.

He began in the early 2000s at the Marché Paul Bert in Saint-Ouen, then in London at Alfies Antique Market. Guided by a European vision of design, he later lived and worked in Norway, Denmark and Berlin.

Between 2002 and 2008, he organized several exhibitions dedicated to French designers and launched a travelling fair devoted to twentieth-century design: Undesignable Market. Its five editions in Eindhoven, Berlin and Amsterdam left a strong mark on the design scene.

At the end of 2013, Richard returned to Paris, his native city, and founded a specialized webzine for design enthusiasts and professionals. Supported by a loyal and engaged community, this initiative gradually became a multi-channel platform.

With this new version, Undesignable expands its offer: a design price guide, galleries of selected pieces, visibility for dealers, a specialized marketplace and, of course, a European program of events.

Still driven by the desire to create connections and encourage discovery, Richard tested a new event format in 2017: Pop-Up Stores, temporary galleries dedicated to vintage furniture. The first edition took place in the Bastille district in Paris.
